While there are a few nice touches to the standard HOA formula, this is one haunted house that can be scheduled for early demolition. It is super-short and lacks the production value (no voices) of other competing games, yet they are asking just as much for the full-game purchase. Paranormal Agency: The Ghosts of Wayne Mansion feel way too much like a budget title. There was a surprising lack of dialogue or voices, which made the game noticeably more silent than most G5 adventures. Sound effects are excellent and there is some pleasing piano music that eventually adds some orchestration to ramp up the tension and suspense. ![]() The graphics are quite good crisp, detailed, and colorful with great lighting, animation, and effects. I almost wonder if all the backtracking was a not-so-subtle way to pad out the game length of what would otherwise have been only a 2-3 hour experience even on Expert mode – short for $7 and short in comparison to most other G5 adventures. This game should be all about the destination and not the repetitive journey. Mindless backtracking is normally found in games that feature random encounters, combat, and level grinding. It’s just poor design for what should have been a casual and relaxing game. It wouldn’t be so bad if there had been a master map or some sort of quick travel, but you will often have to make your way through numerous rooms to reach your destination. Even worse, several of the hidden-object scenes are repeated and you will even find yourself picking up the same objects multiple times. Your patience will be tested more than your deducing skills since Wayne Mansion requires an annoying amount of backtracking to previously explored areas just to find one small thing that has changed or one item you can now obtain – an item you saw earlier but weren’t allowed to take. None of the puzzles are terribly challenging, but if you do get stuck you can always get a hint or skip them entirely. And if you need to relax your brain you can always enjoy a ghostly tea party. In addition to the standard offering of pixel-hunting hidden object screens Paranormal Agency throws in a few interesting twists, some familiar like jigsaw and logic puzzles, and even a surprising round of Blackjack. And while the supernatural tones of playing in a haunted mansion are become a bit predictable, you might actually find a few surprises waiting inside Wayne Mansion…and no, it’s not the Bat Cave. It definitely falls into the more casual side of the scale when it comes to challenge and difficulty. Paranormal Agency: The Ghosts of Wayne Mansion is G5 Entertainment’s latest fix for your HOA addiction.

My reasoning is as follows: Spells are at least the equal, if not superior to, class abilities. With "strongest" meaning the best able things like boss fights with no aid beyond their class abilities and items they're expected to have, assuming they're of an average level (like 7-13). If we're talking 'standard' builds of pure classed characters I'd say the following, in terms of strongest to weakest. An average build played by a highly skilled player is going to perform better than a highly specialized powerbuild played by an average player. However it's important to note that in a PvP situation all classes have a chance, especially dependent on luck, build and skill. Cleric is definitely at the top followed by wizard/sorcerer. If you're low level and fighting a wide range of enemies then maybe ranger isn't the way to go.Ī general power ranking is vaguely possible. It really depends on what you're doing, though, and what you want to do. But if you're dealing with late game/epic levels it has a ton of potential, especially when you throw in weapon master and fighter levels. But unfortunately outside of a few niche uses it's not terribly useful in the early levels. Ranger has a LOT of potential, people sell it far too short. Rangers kick ass if you know what you're doing and rogues are extremely handy and most the enemies youre fighting are not immune to their sneak attack as most enemies are mobs and not bosses Anyway, the base classes, in terms of descending power (for PVE): ![]() Originally posted by wendigo211:It's largely a game of multiclassing, so ranking the base classes doesn't have a huge effect. Most of the fun comes from experimentation though, so go nuts creating the mad mix of your wild imagination. The best use of most base classes (unless you know exactly what you're doing) is to get into prestige classes, like a level or Sorcerer or Bard for Dragon Disciple, or taking one level of Shadowdancer purely for Hide in Plain Sight. Ranger in TT was best used as an entryway into the prestige class of Horizon Walker, which is understandably missing from NWN (would be a massive PitA to code). Speaking of which, Ranger (like every base class) is completely viable late game, if a bit underwhelming. Ranger, Monk, and Bard are the flex classes that step between the above, but are completely viable in their own right with unique abilities for Monk/Bard and the utility of a combo Fighter/Rogue/Druid that the Ranger is. Want to commit Deicide? Play a Wizard/Sorcerer and toss Meteor Swarms at their face until your opponents stop getting up.Ĭonsidering being untouchable and sneaking up to everything, backstab four times and tumble away to hide again? Be a Rogue and be the bane of most living things.įeeling a little religious? Play a Cleric or Paladin to buff yourself to high heavens and make most encounters a joke, one at a time. Long answer: The playstyle you enjoy the most.ĭo you enjoy playing the Big Dumb Fighter? Then Fighter/Barbarian will be up your alley.ĭo you like the swarm tactics? Then go Druid and have an animal companion, shapechange into an animal and summon a dozen spiders into the mix. It's actually impressive that WotC can make a martial class that's so horrible. Ranger is a mix of fighter, druid and rogue and it mixes those classes in such a way that there's absolutely no synergy in the class abilities. In particular the class' attack schedule and Flurry of Blows ability in NWN is exploitable. AKA the class that needs every ability other than charisma. That said the class' defining feature is Sneak Attack and about 1/2 the bestiary is immune to it. Don't go for dexterity in NWN, as long as you make a strength rogue it plays fine. Druid isn't a bad class, but it gets hurt badly by having a horrible spell list in NWN. Fighter is better for multiclassing, but the Barb is a bit better when kept pure (there are only so many feats you can take as a Fighter). A lot of its strength is in Bard Song+Curse Song. The Bard isn't as strong as it is in NWN2 (or 3.5) but it's still pretty good and pairs well with the RDD prestige class. ![]() It's a bit more beginner friendly than the Sorcerer because of the larger spell selection. That said, like the Wizard, the class has a bit of a learning curve to it. You also don't need to focus on too many spells in NWN. Slightly stronger than wizard since they can leverage charisma more than a wizard can leverage intelligence. I don't think you'll get any argument that Clerics are insanely powerful in this game and 3.x in general. It's largely a game of multiclassing, so ranking the base classes doesn't have a huge effect. Whatever one might think of Tom Monaghan's selection of social causes, and no matter how one views the question of direct versus indirect underwriting of them via pizza monies, it's all moot now. have at various times been the focus of pro-choice demonstrations and boycotts. Once again though, this is a question of a well-off individual choosing to expend some of his personal riches on causes he believes in, not of the corporation he's associated with making those donations.īoth Domino's and Carl's Jr. ![]() ![]() Carl Karcher, founder of the California-based hamburger chain Carl's Jr., has been very open and public regarding his support of the pro-life philosophy. Monaghan was not the only fast-food mogul to direct some of his earnings to pro-life organizations. That a spendthrift employee might choose to gamble away his earnings doesn't mean the company he works for supports gambling. The money was his to do with as he pleased, just as anyone's paycheck belongs to the person who earns it and stops being the employer's money at the moment it's paid over. It needs be stressed, however, that he was acting as a private citizen who chose to bestow a part of his fortune on the causes he believed in, not as an officer of Domino's and on behalf of that corporation. However, in another sense, monies from pizza sales did flow into pro-life causes via the conduit of Tom Monaghan.
